Întrebarea dacă detectoarele de radar sunt legale nu poate primi un răspuns uniform în Europa. Există țări în care utilizarea detectoarelor de radar este legală, în timp ce în alte țări UE este interzisă doar utilizarea de dispozitive de bruiaj. Alte țări permit doar detectoarele de radar care raportează prin GPS radarele fixe, dar nu și receptoarele de radar.
